She won't forget this Easter....

I hope everyone had a nice Easter! We left my in-law's house and the kids wanted candy. We wouldn't be eating at my parents' house for another couple hours so, I told them they could have one piece. Here's how the rest of this transpired...

Makenna (who not long ago turned 5): Mommy, there's something stuck in my tooth.
Me: Go upstairs and brush them. You probably have candy stuck in them.

A few minutes later...
Makenna (crying): Mommy, my tooth hurts.
Me: Let me see...(thinking)...Holy crud. Her front tooth is going to fall out. It wasn't even loose!

We wiggle it for an hour or so and it's just hanging. We go to my mom's and she sticks her finger in and pulls it out. Unbelievable. I have been a teacher for 16 years and I have never had a kid go straight from "oh, wow. I have a loose tooth." to "I lost my tooth." in an hour. I'm kind of glad though, because we're home on Spring Break and if that tooth stuck in there for days, we might all go crazy. :)

The tooth fairy was very generous for a first lost tooth....20 quarters....next time, she won't be as rich. :) So, I'm wondering, what is the going rate for the tooth fairy at your house? Does the first lost tooth pull in more $$ than the subsequent ones?
