She won't forget this Easter....

I hope everyone had a nice Easter! We left my in-law's house and the kids wanted candy. We wouldn't be eating at my parents' house for another couple hours so, I told them they could have one piece. Here's how the rest of this transpired...

Makenna (who not long ago turned 5): Mommy, there's something stuck in my tooth.
Me: Go upstairs and brush them. You probably have candy stuck in them.

A few minutes later...
Makenna (crying): Mommy, my tooth hurts.
Me: Let me see...(thinking)...Holy crud. Her front tooth is going to fall out. It wasn't even loose!

We wiggle it for an hour or so and it's just hanging. We go to my mom's and she sticks her finger in and pulls it out. Unbelievable. I have been a teacher for 16 years and I have never had a kid go straight from "oh, wow. I have a loose tooth." to "I lost my tooth." in an hour. I'm kind of glad though, because we're home on Spring Break and if that tooth stuck in there for days, we might all go crazy. :)

The tooth fairy was very generous for a first lost tooth....20 quarters....next time, she won't be as rich. :) So, I'm wondering, what is the going rate for the tooth fairy at your house? Does the first lost tooth pull in more $$ than the subsequent ones?

Once one goes...they all start coming out. I swear my daughter went through a spurt where she lost a tooth every couple of weeks. BTW, I love the toothless smile.

How cute is that?! Congrats to your daughter! My son had teeth problems too but not of the fun kind. Fun blog you have!

Cute! Hope you plan on scrappin' those pics? First 4 teeth on the FIRST child went for 5.00 each. Then she started trying to pull em out before they were ready, so I told her the tooth stock market crashed and the gross national product was only going for 1.00. It slowed up considerably after that. Second child has not lost any of the cute little "hippo" teeth. I'll be sorry to see them go.

Aw, what a cute and happy smile! The going rate in this house is £1 per tooth - no extras for first teeth or doubles! And no inflationary increase either, it's been £1 since DD lost her first five years ago! The only variation we've had is when a tooth fell out in two pieces, the tooth fairy left two 50p pieces!

How cute! What an adorable photo! My 12 yo DS pulled three (3) in about 15 minutes a couple weeks ago. I pulled one of his one time, and traumatized him, so he let them get so loose they practically fell out! He ate some Dots, and all three came out!! Ah, the joys of motherhood!!

The first tooth always pulls in the motherload here at my home and then the explanantion that it was special because it was first and that the other teeth are just not worth as much. My daughter lost two teeth in two weeks just before easter so we should be good for a while here.

My daughter lost her top tooth Monday after Easter :) Now it was her 3rd tooth seh lost -- and she got 6 quarters. Why 6? Because she has a little wooden toothbox that holds the tooth and that is how many quarters fit in that little box. I would usually only do 2 quarters or maybe 4 quarters. Enough to go buy an ice cream or something.
