Grandma's Peonies

Before my grandma died, we dug up the peonies in her yard and split them up between myself, my brother and my parents. The first few years, nothing really happened and they barely bloomed. This year, I got some huge blooms and decided to cut some of them for a vase. This year, I counted 19 blooms all together. I cut off about 7 of them for the vase and left the rest on the two plants. I hope one day, they will get huge so I can split them and be able to line a big area with them. Every year they get bigger!

I love peonies, my sweet hubby planted two red and one pink. Unfortunately the pink one didn't bloom this year :-(

Nice blog, keep up the goodwork!

I've always had a fear of peonies...weird, right? When I was a kid, I picked a peonie from my neighbours yard (naughty little kid, I was) and brought it home to show my mum. When she looked at it, she screamed and told me to "GET IT OUT OF THE HOUSE!!!!!" Why, you ask? It was covered in red ants. I still think they're pretty...from afar.

Peonies always remind me of my grandma...as she had peonies in her yard. I think that is so neat that you split the peonies and now have them in your own yard. Beautiful!

Does every grandma have peonies, or just our grandmas? :o) That's one of my favorite memories of grandma's house... watching the ants crawl all over the peony blossoms. Those were the days. Thanks for the memories!
